DID YOU KNOW

  • that you do NOT need a high school diploma to go to college?
  • that ZLO has the endorsement of a local high school principal as having some of the best prepared, most successful students at that high school?
  • that a high school diploma does NOT guarantee either instruction or knowledge in courses taken by a student, only that the student warmed the chair for 150 hours in exchange for a credit on a transcript?
  • that NO local public school - homeschool extension program (sometimes called Parent Parntership Programs) that we know of is 'accredited' by ANY agency - only that they help you accumulate hours, NOT knowledge, toward their high school diploma?

The Opening Doors Presentation, is an education planning seminar for parents of 8th - 10th graders. It includes information about educational options after high school, how to prepare for those options during high school, homeschoolers and diplomas, using several local educational opportunities, homeschoolers and college financial aid, and some ways to help pay for college. Please click on our Podcasts page at left to access it. You may need QuickTime, a free download from Apple Computer for any computer.

SAT Prep help We know of a SAT prep program through our local community college, and we've also become aware of one run by Ivy League students who have been there, done that, and can coach college applicants through the finer points of test taking. We are simply pointing you to information to check out. For lack of experience with them are not able to endorse either program.
