Calculating your Grade Point Average (GPA)

This is for a 4.0 GPA scale.

Download the GPA calculator page.

In the first column on the calculator page, list your classes.

In the second column, list the grade for that class.

In the third column, translate the grade to a grade point using the chart below.

In the fourth column, list the credit value of a class. A one-year course should require a minimum of 150 hours of work, and is worth 1 credit. A semester course should require a minimum of 75 hours of work, and is worth 0.5 credits.

In the fifth column, multiply the amount in column 3 by the amount in column 4.

Follow directions for the other cells.

To find your cumulative GPA across several semesters or years, add all the point totals together, and divide by the total number of credits.
